Adrienne Justice : Creator of Tenderfoot
I created Tenderfoot, a line of mysterious and macabre accessories and home decor, as a response to life’s changes after becoming a mother. Reaching for a sustainable studio practice during a chaotic time at home with a young child, I began production work by casting porcelain in molds. As a sculptor, learning new methods of creating in multiples opened up time to consider connecting objects with consumers.
There is beauty, fear, sadness, and fascination in each of these pieces. The objects hold mystery while also harkening back to timeless tropes of the gothic fashion subculture. Tenderfoot is about fragility in life and death and handling the journey with touches of humor within an elegant herbarium.
